BIO

Dr. Hifza Rasheed is the Director General of the Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (PCRWR), where she leads national initiatives on water quality assessment, water conservation, health risk analysis, and climate-resilient water research. With a PhD from the University of Leeds and over 19 years of interdisciplinary experience, she oversees technical teams advising on sustainable management of surface and groundwater resources. Dr. Rasheed has published 67 journal articles, research reports, patents and conference papers on emerging contaminants, cost effective testing and treatment technologies, water-smart cities, bioremediation, and the intersection of water and health specifically WASH. Her research focuses on the links between water quality and child stunting, including integrated health risk assessments of arsenic-contaminated water, irrigation-related food hazards, and nutrition-related outcomes in African and South Asian contexts. In recognition of her contributions, she was awarded the UK Study Alumni Award in 2021 and the Women Water Award in 2025.
