Inga Afanasieva

Inga Afanasieva is a Senior Economist with the Education team, stationed in Islamabad, Pakistan. She covers the federal education engagements and the province of Balochistan. Over the course of her career, she worked in operations across infrastructure and social sectors in Sub-Saharan Africa, Central Asia, South Asia, and East Asia Pacific. Inga built an expertise in innovative financing and she spearheaded the work on outcome-based financing at the World Bank, which culminated with the launch of the Outcomes Fund MDTF. In the past, Inga served as the chief of staff at the Moldovan Ministry of Education where she was at the forefront of the education reform and the development of the new education strategy and law. Inga was a 2020 Fellow of Practice of the Blavatnik School of Government at Oxford University. She holds a Master of Science in Foreign Service degree from Georgetown University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova.
